Thanksgiving Theme

The final track on Guaraldi’s famous Christmas album, Thanksgiving Theme pays tribute not only to holidays past, but to earlier themes on the record as well. You’ll find remnants of What Child Is This as well as Skating peppered throughout this quick and quirky number that leans heavily on fast triads and arpeggios in a swing waltz feel. It’s certainly a ‘burner,’ but it’s easier than it might sound. Practice slowly and methodically and you’ll find that much of the material is rather formulaic and frequently recycled. As always, you can simplify the left hand as much as you need to by removing any superfluous embellishments so you can focus on nailing the driving right hand part. Enjoy!
