Pachelbel’s Canon—after debuting in the late 17th century—remained a ghost of a work until 1968 when it was resurrected as the piece that we all know and love.
It was then that Jean-François Paillard’s chamber orchestra recorded a version that sounds much like the one you hear at weddings today. The rest is history!
In this lesson, I did my best to simplify our intermediate version into something playable by beginners with some practice. While it’s certainly note-y (how can you avoid it…?) I was careful to walk through every section as slowly and separately as possible. Hope you enjoy! —Devon
