Clarkson co-wrote this song with her producers David Hodges and Ben Moody, both of whom are members of Evanescence. Clarkson intended this song to appear on her first album, “Thankful,” but it was rejected, even reportedly mocked. Clarkson then reached out to Hodges and Moody to help her improve it. Even then, Clarkson says, she had to fight to include it on “Breakaway.”
