FAQ

What is a 'HYBRID Piano Lesson'?

hd-piano-lesson-overviewSince there were no lessons like ours when we started, we needed to create a new category of videos, and we call them “HYBRID Piano Lessons”. Some people use overhead video cameras to teach piano, and others use piano software to demonstrate songs. But we are proud to be the first ones to intelligently combine both into one—a whole new kind of piano lesson—HYBRID Piano Lessons. Half of the screen has a real piano instructor’s hands showing you exactly what to do. The other half of the screen is captured from the world’s most popular piano training software, Synthesia. The two halves meet in the middle and overlap perfectly to give you the best view of the song without any distractions.

Can I download the sheet music or MIDI files for your lessons?

Yes, we offer MIDI downloads for a limited number of songs. Visit our MIDI Downloads page to see our selection. We still feel that our HD video lessons are the best option for step-by-step guided instruction, but for those who prefer to teach themselves using PC and Mac software, MIDI downloads can be a great option for them in addition to our hybrid piano lessons. We do not offer sheet music specifically although software exists that can interpret MIDI files into sheet music.

How do I upgrade/cancel my subscription?

You can change the status of your subscription at anytime by visiting the My Account page (http://hdpiano.com/my-account/) and logging in to your account. If you have an active subscription (“Active” or “Processing” status), you can simply click “Cancel” to stop your automatic payments and cancel your subscription. Similarly, you can renew your cancelled subscriptions at anytime as well.

What is your refund policy?

Our basic stance is that we have “a no refund policy”. We offer free trials to our subscriptions so anyone can try out the site risk-free to see if they like it or not. If a customer is not satisfied, we expect that they will cancel their subscription before their 1st payment. If you feel like our free trials are not long enough to evaluate the site, please share your experience with us. Refunds for MIDI Downloads may be requested within 30 days of purchase.

If you believe you should be eligible for a refund, visit our refund request page.

I completed my order. How do I view the members-only videos?

During checkout, you created a username and password. Visit the My Account page (http://hdpiano.com/my-account/) and login to your account. As long as your free trial or subscription is still active (“Active” or “Processing” status) you’ll be able to browse, search for, and view every video available on our website. Please note that it may take a few minutes for your account to change out of “Pending” status while we wait for confirmation from PayPal. After logged in, check our Full List of Videos to be sure you can see the “Members Only” video thumbnails. Your free trial should be active within 2-10 minutes of completing your PayPal checkout.

Can I see each full song put together in one video?

Yes and no.

Some songs simply contain one loop that repeats throughout the entire song. So, by teaching the loop, we have essentially shown you the whole song. Other multiple-part songs are also relatively simple to piece together if you’re familiar with the song.

Starting in May 2013, for more elaborate songs, we began posting “Whole Song” demos (for our members only). In these videos, members can see a full speed demo of the song in our typical HYBRID video style. These videos do not include step-by-step instruction since that is still covered in the individual lessons for each song. For the lessons made prior to May 2013, that don’t have a “Whole Song” demo, we’re working to catch up on those each week. Please send us a request if there is a song that you’re having trouble putting together, and we’ll make sure it’s on our to-do list.

Recording “Whole Song” demonstrations was a top request from our subscribers, and we thought it was a great idea. We’re happy to now be offering it to our members. ~Thanks
